This school has a long tradition. Highly educated and widely experienced teachers are employed here. Apart from full-time teachers there are some specialists, who regularly work in our town`s factories and companies.
IT classrooms are equipped with the latest computer systems. A lot of classrooms are provided with modern teaching aids and they are continually improved.
Most of our students manage to graduate and get a degree in engineering, sometimes in sociology, Polish, English, German philology or even law. Our students have become respectable experts not only in Poland, but also in many other countries.
At present Dr Sławomir Janowski is the principal of the school. There are 53 full-time teachers, including 1 with a degree of doctor and11 final-school leaving exams` examiners. There are 1155 students at 42 classes this school year.
In the section "School Gallery" we present pictures taken during some cultural, sports and important school events. Students have an opportunity to take part in a variety of extra classes: German, English, Computer Studies, Sports, Drama and P.E.
We would like you to get to know some facts from the history of our school.
1947 - The school was founded, but the name and location were different from nowadays. First name was Gimnazjum Cukrownicze Cukrowni Racibórz .The Sugar Factory was a founder of that school. That new educational institution was located in the present Technikum Budowlane.
1951 - A new name of the school was introduced - Technikum Mechaniczne Przemysłu Spożywczego. It was located in a rebuilt building of the present Zespół Szkół Zawodowych /previous Fornalska - Wileńska street now /.
1963 - On the 3rd of October a new modern school was opened - The Technikum Mechaniczne in Zamkowa Street and still is available at the same place. Then the school was given its own standard and was named ARKA BOŻEK`S SCHOOL.1100 students in 35 classes were attending it then. It was the first school in Opole province and one among not many in Poland that introduced a modern system of education based on profiled classrooms /Polish, History classroom and so on /.
1978 - The building of the workshop was completed and as a result of that the school became an impressive educational centre.
1992 - Beginning of cooperation and exchanging of students with a similar Czech school –Integrovana Stredni Skola COP Opavva.
1995 - A new partner for educational cooperation was found in Germany –Technische Schulen des Kreises Steinfurt.
1997- The most tragic moment in the history of our school and town. At 3.30 pm on the 8th of July the building of the workshop was hit by flood and then at 11pm the school\'s basement was flooded and also partially the ground floor. A desperate fight to protect teaching aids and equipment took place. Both students and teachers took part in it. After 3 days the flood waters finally receded. The management, teachers and staff estimated the loss. All volunteers struggled heroically to restore the order. Thanks to the support of the local government, prominent people and financial help, we overcame the difficulties and managed to start the next school year.
2003-2004 - The main task performed by the management of the school was an entire redecoration of the school building. The school was given a new attractive elevation. The heating system was changed and our gym was modernized.
2004-2005 - The school football team /trainer - Zbigniew Oszek / won the Championship of Silesia twice!
